Where do you turn when CIRS-triggered depression turns to suicidal thoughts?
Unfortunately, this is a question that is not uncommon in the CIRS/mold illness arena, and recently showed up in the member Q&A forum. First and foremost we want you to know there is help and hope for the depression and mental health affects that CIRS patients often struggle with. It may help to receive validation that, yes, these symptoms may come with the CIRS territory. If you are suffering from the effects of depression, please do not wait to seek help from a wide net of resources available to address any despairing or suicidal thoughts.
Reaching out for help is to be commended and shows you are on your way to receiving the help you need. Here are a few resources to get you started:
1/ The National Crisis & Suicide Prevention hotline, 988lifeline.org, offers free and confidential support around the clock. You simply need to dial 988 to receive immediate assistance. Please do not hesitate to make this call.
This resource is for those in distress in real time, as well as for suicide prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, plus offer best practice resources for professionals in the United States.
2/ If you find you need on-going support, or medical support or assistance, there are many local, state, and national mental health and medical assistance resources and organizations available to all income levels that may be unknown to you now.
If seeking out help all seems too much, reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or advisor/mentor in your life without delay. While this person may not be trained in helping you, ask them to help you in finding the help and support you need, physically, mentally and with
anything else concerning you on your CIRS journey.
Do not hesitate to reach out to these resources for help, and don’t stop until you find the help you need. Help IS available for you or your loved one.
