Autoimmunity
Are there other autoimmune lab values other than ACLA which occur sometimes in mold patients?
Because of the dual role of TGF beta-1 and retinoic acid orphan receptors (ROR receptors) in tissue, autoimmune abnormalities are quite common in CIRS. We see increased levels of ANCA together with ANA. These so-called “false positives,” provide indirect evidence of the remarkable role of TGF beta-1 and rheumatologic illness.
Antigliadin antibodies are also far more common, and have diagnostic significance, in cases compared to controls.
