Cynthia Fraed

Cynthia Fraed, MD is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and was certified by the American Holistic Medical Association shortly after they instituted their certification testing.

She was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania and graduated from John Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in biology.
After completing training as a Medical Technologist, she obtained her medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine. Her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at Saint Louis University Hospitals. Following residency, she moved to Southern Illinois and joined a group practice and eventually transitioned to a solo practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Fraed continued to develop her interest in psychology, taking classes in the Educational Psychology Department at Southern Illinois University. Blending her interests in a holistic approach to health, psychology and gynecology, she began focusing her practice on issues of perimenopause, menopause, women’s sexual health and pelvic pain. When she studied Craniosacral Therapy and learned this gentle hands-on technique, she was further able to develop her diagnostic skills in evaluating problems with pelvic pain and sexual issues.

After closing her solo private practice, she spent time working in various clinics focusing on contraception and women’s health care. Following an academic spouse, she moved first to Northeast Ohio and joined Tenpenny Integrative Medical Center and continued expanding her knowledge in holistic care. During her time there, she also trained as a B.E.S.T.(Bioenergetic Synchronous Technique) practitioner and is an Elite Diplomat in that technique. She came to North Carolina and joined Dr. Sonia Rapaport and the practice at Haven Medical in Chapel Hill, NC. While at Haven Medical, Dr. Fraed studied the Shoemaker /Surviving Mold Protocol for diagnosis and treatment of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and became a certified provider through Surviving Mold. A hallmark of her career is that she has been committed to learning and growing professionally in order to provide comprehensive holistic medical care grounded in science and shaped by compassion.
