Mold growth:
QUESTION: Mold has grown on some of my shoes and I am wondering if the carpet has a chance of having mold also.
ANSWER: The mold growing on shoes is usually Aspergillus penicillioides. It would not be surprising to find that in the carpet as well.
QUESTION: My carpet has been a little damp for about two months. Does my carpet have mold as the carpet has a sticky feel?
ANSWER: If there has been moisture damage that has not been dried out within two days, there will be microbial growth in the carpet.

ANSWER: This question has not been studied but being within 100 yards of a contaminated body of fresh water is a risk factor for CIRS whether there is a hurricane or not.

Yes, we have heard of this and it does not work.
