HERTSMI-2:  Simplifying Analysis of Safety of WDB

This scoring system is application of the DNA testing shown on ERMI test results.  The new roster is designed to help patients (previously sickened by water-damaged buildings) understand if a given building is safe for occupancy. The roster is based on the results of 738 ERMI consecutive test results with 592 that were over 2 and 146 under 2.

We selected five species of fungi from Group I of ERMI based on two criteria.
       1.    Representative of varied water saturations (60-80%; 80-90%; 90-100%).
              a.    Relative risk for enrichment is WDB compared to non-WDB is at least 10 The ratio of incidence in ERMI >2 divided by the Incidence in ERMI <2 must be >10.

T Regulatory Cells in Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome from Water-Damaged Buildings (CIRS-WDB)

We now know that there is more to the innate immune responses that has clinical significance than the markers we measure in blood (humoral response).  The tissue based response has now been unveiled with evidence that low levels of T regulatory lymphocytes (Tregs) is another aspect of how people can get sick and stay sick after exposure to biotoxins.  Based on what we see in our control groups and treated patients, we want CD4+CD25+ cells, when measured by Quest flow cytometry done in Chantilly, Virginia, to be 18-20%.  Eventually, we will have access to measuring FoxP3 and FoxP0 on these cells. That additional refinement will add greater specificity to our evaluation.
